SB225,1,2 1An Act to create 29.014 (1s) of the statutes; relating to: a uniform end date for
2certain open hunting and trapping seasons.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Natural Resources to establish a uniform
end date for open hunting and trapping seasons for pheasant, gray partridge, and
fisher, for wild turkey hunting in the fall, and for deer hunted only by archers. The
bill requires the open season for each to end on the Sunday nearest January 6.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB225,1 3Section 1. 29.014 (1s) of the statutes is created to read:
SB225,1,64 29.014 (1s) If the department establishes an open season for hunting or
5trapping any of the following animals, the department shall end the open season for
6each on the Sunday nearest January 6:
SB225,1,77 (a) Pheasant.

1(b) Gray partridge.
SB225,2,22 (c) Fisher.
SB225,2,33 (d) Wild turkey, if the open season begins in the fall.
SB225,2,44 (e) Deer, if the season is open only to archers.
