This bill requires the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority
to issue up to $1,000,000 in bonds to make grants directly to individuals and families
or to one or more local housing authorities for the purpose of providing rent
assistance to individuals and families who are in danger of being evicted from their
residences.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB316,1 2Section 1. 234.38 of the statutes is created to read:
SB316,2,2 3234.38 Eviction prevention grants. The authority shall issue its negotiable
4bonds in such principal amount and length of maturity as to provide sufficient funds,
5not to exceed $1,000,000, to make grants directly to individuals and families or to one
6or more housing authorities under s. 59.53 (22), 61.73, 66.1201, or 66.1213 for the

1purpose of providing rent assistance to individuals and families who are in danger
2of being evicted from their residences.
