SJR16,1,32 Whereas, Kirby Hendee was born on March 12, 1923, and died on March 11,
32016; and
SJR16,1,54 Whereas, Kirby Hendee graduated from St. Roberts grade school and
5Shorewood High School; and
SJR16,1,76 Whereas, Kirby Hendee was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army
7from 1943 to 1946; and
SJR16,1,98 Whereas, after the war, Kirby Hendee attended Holy Cross College, graduating
9in 1950, and the University of Michigan Law School, receiving his LLB in 1953; and
SJR16,1,1310 Whereas, Kirby Hendee was elected to the Wisconsin Senate in 1956, serving
11in the 1957 session on the Judiciary and Labor, Taxation, Insurance, and Banking
12Committees, and in the 1959 session on the Joint Committee on Finance, and in both
13sessions on the Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems; and

1Whereas, after an unsuccessful campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of
2Representatives in 1960, Hendee went to work as an attorney in the insurance
3industry; and
SJR16,2,64 Whereas, in 1971 Kirby Hendee began a long career as a lobbyist for a diverse
5group of clients, representing the banking industry, the insurance industry, public
6utilities, and many others; and
SJR16,2,97 Whereas, Kirby Hendee became a well-known person in the Capitol, widely
8admired for his wit, dedication, and honesty, serving as a lobbyist until his
9retirement in 1988; now, therefore, be it
SJR16,2,12 10Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature
11salutes Kirby Hendee's public service, remembers fondly his many years in the
12Capitol, and mourns his passing; and, be it further
SJR16,2,14 13Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
14his son, James.
