SB212,1,3 1An Act to amend 27.01 (9) (bn) (title); and to create 20.370 (1) (ed), 27.01 (6m)
2and 27.01 (9) (bg) of the statutes; relating to: fee waivers for state park vehicle
3admission receipts to pupils enrolled in grade 4 and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Natural Resources to waive the fee for an
annual vehicle admission receipt issued to the parent or guardian of a public or
private school pupil enrolled in grade four. The bill provides that a parent or
guardian of a qualifying pupil may receive the waiver only once in his or her lifetime
and DNR may issue a waiver only once for a household.
This bill also requires DNR to provide on its website an activity guide for state
parks, forests, recreation areas, and trails.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB212,1 4Section 1 . 20.370 (1) (ed) of the statutes is created to read:

120.370 (1) (ed) Parks - general program operations. From the general fund, a
2sum sufficient equal to the amount of the annual vehicle admission receipt fees
3waived under s. 27.01 (9) (bg), for the operation of state parks.
SB212,2 4Section 2. 27.01 (6m) of the statutes is created to read:
SB212,2,75 27.01 (6m) Visitor activity guides for schools. The department shall provide
6on the department's Internet site a visitor activity guide for state parks, forests,
7recreation areas, and trails.
SB212,3 8Section 3. 27.01 (9) (bg) of the statutes is created to read:
SB212,2,159 27.01 (9) (bg) Annual vehicle admission receipt fee waiver; school children. 1.
10Except as provided under subd. 2., the department shall waive the fee, including the
11issuing fee, imposed under sub. (7) for an annual vehicle admission receipt for any
12vehicle, except a motor bus, that has Wisconsin registration plates and that is owned
13by a person who produces evidence that he or she is the parent or guardian of a public
14or private school pupil who on January 1 of the year for which the vehicle admission
15receipt is issued is enrolled in grade 4.
SB212,2,1916 2. A parent or guardian of a pupil enrolled in grade 4 may receive only one fee
17waiver under this paragraph in his or her lifetime. If a parent or guardian receives
18a fee waiver under this paragraph, the department may not waive the fee under this
19paragraph for any other member of the parent's or guardian's household.
