ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: designating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Wisconsin.
Whereas, domestic violence is a serious public health and safety issue that impacts individuals and families in every community across Wisconsin; and
Whereas, every year numerous lives are tragically lost to domestic violence in Wisconsin, underscoring the urgent and ongoing need for awareness, prevention, and intervention efforts; and
Whereas, survivors and their children depend each year on lifesaving services in Wisconsin, including emergency shelter, legal assistance, counseling, and advocacy, to escape abuse and begin the process of rebuilding their lives; and
Whereas, Domestic Violence Awareness Month provides a meaningful opportunity to honor those whose lives have been lost, to stand with survivors, to recognize the commitment of advocates and service providers, and to recommit as a state to the goal of ending domestic violence in all its forms; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the month of October shall be designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Wisconsin.
