Under this bill, the Department of Public Instruction must develop and implement a grant program, under which it awards grants to school districts, independent charter schools, and private schools participating in a parental choice program for the purpose of creating or supporting parent and guardian volunteer programs. The bill requires DPI to begin awarding these grants in the 2026-27 school year.

(1) The 12department shall develop and implement a program to award grants to school 13boards, governing boards of charter schools established under s. 118.40 (2r) or (2x), 14and governing bodies of private schools participating in a program under s. 118.60 15or 119.23 to create or support programs that allow or encourage parents and 16guardians to volunteer in elementary and secondary schools. AB825,2,1817(2) The department shall award grants under this section beginning in the 182026-27 school year. AB825,2,1919(3) The department shall promulgate rules to implement this section. 1by the secretary of administration, of the appropriation under s. 20.505 (4) (s) 2allocated for payments to telecommunications providers under contracts with 3school districts and cooperative educational service agencies under s. 16.971 (13).
