Notice of Meeting
The Department of Natural Resources announces that it will hold a public meeting on an emergency rule, WM-07-17(E), relating to the revision of white-tailed deer 3-year population objectives and deer management unit boundaries. This rule revises Ch. NR 10, Wis. Admin. Code. The meeting will be held at the time and place shown below.

Rule Information
The Department of Natural Resources is required to review Deer Management Unit (DMU) boundaries and deer population objectives (increase, maintain or decrease the deer population) at three-year intervals. Population objectives and DMUs serve as the foundation for managing the deer herd and determining annual deer hunting season structures and antlerless deer permit availability. To form population objectives and revise DMU boundaries, County Deer Advisory Councils (CDACs) review deer herd metrics and public input. Each year, CDACs recommend antlerless deer harvest quotas, carcass tag levels and deer season structure within each DMU to work toward that DMU’s 3-year population objective.
This rule will revise Wisconsin Administrative Code (Ch. NR 10) to reflect updated DMUs and population objectives. Implementing this rule will allow CDACs to form annual deer season recommendations based on these updated DMUs and objectives.
