NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CHAPTER PI 34 - EDUCATOR LICENSES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to s. 115.28 (7) (a) and (c), Stats., the Department of Public Instruction will hold a public hearing as required under s. 227.16, Stats., to consider the promulgation of proposed permanent rules amending PI 34 relating to changes to PI 34 as a result of 2019 Wisconsin Act 44.
The proposed rule seeks to make changes to ch. PI 34 to conform the rule to changes in statute as a result of 2019 Wisconsin Act 44, including rules around what constitutes satisfactory completion of a course of study that a special education teacher may complete as an alternative to the Foundations of Reading Test (FORT). The hearing will be held as follows:
Date and Time: Monday, February 24, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Location: GEF 3 Building, Room 041, 125 S Webster St., Madison, WI 53703

Due to security upgrades at the GEF 3 building, those who plan to attend the hearing are required to present photo identification at the security desk near the Webster Street entrance.

Appearances at the Hearing and Submittal of Written Comments
Interested persons are invited to appear at the hearing and will be afforded the opportunity to make a presentation of their position on the proposed rule orally or in writing. The purpose of this hearing to accept public testimony on the proposed rules under consideration. Questions or comments about the rules under consideration may be posed and will be duly recorded.
Individuals who are unable to attend the hearing but would like to submit written comments may do so via the Department’s form for submitting comment at https://forms.gle/uvazvP1Ws6StdHig9. Questions or additional testimony may be accepted by using the contact information below. Written comments on the proposed rules received no later than the date of the hearing will be given the same consideration as testimony presented at the hearing.
