HEA 6.01
HEA 6.01 Indian eligibility. To be eligible for a grant under the Indian student assistance program, a student must have one-quarter Indian blood as certified by the appropriate Indian agency; or be recognized, for purposes of the program, as a member of a tribe by the appropriate tribal government.

HEA 6.02
HEA 6.02 Grants for summer school. Grants may be awarded under the program to eligible students enrolling in summer school.

HEA 6.03
HEA 6.03 Relationship with the bureau of Indian affairs. The Indian student assistance program shall be administered in such a way so as to insure an integrated and cooperative relationship with the bureau of Indian affairs which administers a similar federal program.

HEA 6.04(1)
(1) An eligible student who is enrolled at least one-half time shall receive up to the statutory maximum based upon financial need.
HEA 6.04(2)
(2) An eligible student who is enrolled less than half-time shall receive a grant equal to actual educational costs including tuition, fees and books.
HEA 6.04(3)
(3) The amount of the grant awarded to an eligible student enrolled in a special program shall be determined through negotiation among the sponsors of the special program including the institution, bureau of Indian affairs, and the board. Before students enrolled in a special program are aided, however, the program must receive prior approval of the education committee of the great lakes inter-tribal council.
