AB557-ASA1-AA33,1,2 21. Page 3, line 19: after the semicolon insert "use of social security numbers;".
AB557-ASA1-AA33,1,3 32. Page 57, line 5: after that line insert:
AB557-ASA1-AA33,1,4 4" Section 143m. 343.022 of the statutes is created to read:
AB557-ASA1-AA33,1,10 5343.022 Use of social security numbers. (1) Except as provided in s. 343.14
6(2) (bm), the department may not require an individual, for the purposes of chs. 340
7to 349 and 351, to disclose his or her social security number, but may request an
8individual to disclose his or her social security number to assist the department in
9accessing his or her records if the department informs the individual that he or she
10may refuse to disclose the number.
AB557-ASA1-AA33,2,2 11(2) The department may not disclose any social security number collected
12under chs. 340 to 349 and 351. This subsection does not apply to the disclosure of
13a social security number to a law enforcement agency, as defined in s. 165.83 (1) (b),
14a federal governmental agency or an agency of this state, to perform a legally
15authorized function. Any law enforcement agency, federal governmental agency or

1agency of this state that obtains a social security number from the department may
2not disclose that number except to perform a legally authorized function.".

AB557-ASA1-AA33,2,118 343.14 (2) (bm) A space for the applicant to provide his or her social security
9number, together with a prominent statement informing the applicant that he or she
10is not required to disclose the number in order to obtain a license unless he or she
11is applying for a commercial driver license;".
