AB591-ASA3-AA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:
AB591-ASA3-AA1,1,4 21. Page 3, line 21: after "age," insert: "the number of children for whom a
3person may provide care and supervision before the person is required to obtain a
4license to operate a day care center,".
AB591-ASA3-AA1,1,5 52. Page 25, line 14: after that line insert:
AB591-ASA3-AA1,1,6 6" Section 61g. 46.986 (1) (d) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB591-ASA3-AA1,1,97 46.986 (1) (d) "Day care center" means a facility operated by a child care
8provider that provides care and supervision for 4 6 or more children under 7 years
9of age for less than 24 hours a day.".

AB591-ASA3-AA1,1,11 11" Section 71j. 48.65 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB591-ASA3-AA1,2,412 48.65 (1) No person may for compensation provide care and supervision for 4
136 or more children under the age of 7 for less than 24 hours a day unless that person
14obtains a license to operate a day care center from the department. To obtain a

1license under this subsection to operate a day care center, a person must meet the
2minimum requirements for a license established by the department under s. 48.67
3and pay the license fee under sub. (3). A license issued under this subsection is valid
4for 2 years after the date of issuance, unless sooner revoked or suspended.".

, is amended to read:
AB591-ASA3-AA1,2,178 48.65 (3) (a) Before the department may issue a license under sub. (1) to a day
9care center that provides care and supervision for 4 6 to 8 children, the day care
10center must pay to the department a biennial fee of $50. Before the department may
11issue a license under sub. (1) to a day care center that provides care and supervision
12for 9 or more children, the day care center must pay to the department a biennial fee
13of $25, plus a biennial fee of $7 per child, based on the number of children that the
14day care center is licensed to serve. A day care center that wishes to renew a license
15issued under sub. (1) shall pay the applicable fee under this paragraph by the
16renewal date of the license. A new day care center shall pay the applicable fee under
17this paragraph no later than 30 days before the opening of the day care center.".
