AB73-ASA1,1,3 1An Act to amend 21.49 (3) (a) and 21.49 (3) (b) 1.; and to create 21.49 (2) (a) and
2(b) of the statutes; relating to: national guard tuition grants and making an
3appropriation.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB73-ASA1, s. 1 4Section 1. 21.49 (2) (a) and (b) of the statutes are created to read:
AB73-ASA1,1,55 21.49 (2) (a) An officer or warrant officer.
AB73-ASA1,1,66 (b) An individual with a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent.
AB73-ASA1, s. 2 7Section 2. 21.49 (3) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB73-ASA1,1,128 21.49 (3) (a) Any eligible guard member upon satisfactory completion of a
9full-time or part-time course in a qualifying school is eligible for a tuition grant
10equal to 50% 45% of the actual tuition charged by the school or 50% 45% of the
11maximum resident undergraduate tuition charged by the university of
12Wisconsin-Madison for a comparable number of credits, whichever amount is less.
AB73-ASA1, s. 3 13Section 3. 21.49 (3) (b) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:

121.49 (3) (b) 1. Be submitted to the department for approval of payment no later
2than 6 months 90 days after the completion date of the course;
AB73-ASA1, s. 4 3Section 4. Appropriation changes.
AB73-ASA1,2,84 (1)  National guard tuition grants. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3)
5of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of military affairs under
6section 20.465 (2) (a) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 1993 and 1995, the
7dollar amount is increased by $590,300 for fiscal year 1994-95 to provide additional
8tuition grants to national guard members.

AB73-ASA1,2,1010 (1)  This act first applies to courses commenced after January 1, 1995.
