AB73-SSA2,1,2 1An Act to amend 21.49 (3) (b) 1. of the statutes; relating to: national guard
2tuition grants and making an appropriation.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB73-SSA2, s. 1 3Section 1. 21.49 (3) (b) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:
AB73-SSA2,1,54 21.49 (3) (b) 1. Be submitted to the department for approval of payment no later
5than 6 months 90 days after the completion date of the course;
AB73-SSA2, s. 2 6Section 2. Nonstatutory provisions.
AB73-SSA2,1,12 7(1)  Notwithstanding section 21.49 (3) (b) 1. of the statutes, as affected by this
8act, and sections 21.49 (3) (d) of the statutes, tuition grants provided from the
9appropriation under section 20.465 (2) (a) of the statutes for fiscal year 1994-95 shall
10be paid to all eligible national guard members who completed a course before July
111, 1995, and who apply no later than 80 days after the effective date of this
12subsection.
AB73-SSA2,2,2 13(2)  Notwithstanding section 20.465 (1) (a) of the statutes, if moneys are
14insufficient under section 20.465 (2) (a) of the statutes to fully fund grants under

1subsection (1), the department of military affairs shall pay the balance from the
2appropriation under section 20.465 (1) (a) of the statutes.
AB73-SSA2,2,5 3(3)  Notwithstanding section 20.001 (3) (a) of the statutes, the department of
4military affairs shall make the payment under subsection (1), from the appropriation
5under section 20.465 (2) (a) of the statutes for the 1994-95 fiscal year.

AB73-SSA2,2,11 7(1)  National guard tuition grants. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3)
8of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of military affairs under
9section 20.465 (2) (a) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 1993 and 1995, the
10dollar amount is increased by $635,300 for fiscal year 1994-95 to provide additional
11tuition grants to national guard members.

AB73-SSA2,2,13 13(1)  This act first applies to courses commenced after January 1, 1995.
