AB774-ASA1,1,2 1An Act relating to: a joint legislative council study on the future of the tavern
2industry; gambling offenses; and providing a penalty.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB774-ASA1, s. 1 3Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.
AB774-ASA1,1,94 (1)  Gambling. Notwithstanding the penalty provided for a violation of section
5945.02 of the statutes, whoever violates that section on or after the effective date of
6this subsection but before July 1, 1998, and the violation involves a video game of
7chance commonly known as a video poker machine, is guilty of a Class C
8misdemeanor, the penalty for which is prescribed under section 939.51 (3) (c), 1993
9stats.
AB774-ASA1,2,210 (2)  Commercial gambling. Notwithstanding the penalty provided for a
11violation of section 945.03 of the statutes, whoever violates that section on or after
12the effective date of this subsection but before July 1, 1998, and the violation involves
13a video game of chance commonly known as a video poker machine, is guilty of a Class

1B misdemeanor, the penalty for which is prescribed under section 939.51 (3) (b), 1993
2stats.
AB774-ASA1,2,83 (3)  Permitting premises to be used for commercial gambling.
4Notwithstanding the penalty provided for a violation of section 945.04 of the
5statutes, whoever violates that section on or after the effective date of this subsection
6but before July 1, 1998, and the violation involves a video game of chance commonly
7known as a video poker machine, is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor, the penalty for
8which is prescribed under section 939.51 (3) (c), 1993 stats.
AB774-ASA1,2,149 (4)  Future of the tavern industry. The joint legislative council is requested
10to study the issue of the future of the tavern industry in Wisconsin, including an
11assessment of the impact of gambling on the tavern industry. By July 1, 1997, the
12legislative council shall report its findings, conclusions and recommendations, if any,
13to the legislature in the manner provided under section 13.172 (2) of the statutes and
14to the governor.
