AR29-ASA2,1,2 1Relating to: commending Shannon Faulkner and requesting Congress to
2discontinue funding for the Citadel.
AR29-ASA2,1,43 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner attempted for 2 1/2 years to enroll in the Citadel,
4the South Carolina state military college; and
AR29-ASA2,1,65 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner was admitted as the first woman cadet in the
6152-year history of the Citadel cadet corps; and
AR29-ASA2,1,87 Whereas, Shannon Faulkner broke down the barriers for women to attend the
8Citadel; and
AR29-ASA2,1,129 Whereas, the Citadel made every effort to block Shannon Faulkner's admission
10to the Citadel and persists in promoting separate South Carolina state military
11college programs for men and women to enable the citadel to deny admission to
12women in the future; now, therefore, be it
AR29-ASA2,1,16 13Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
14commend and thank Shannon Faulkner for her courage, commitment and
15persistence in opening the Citadel to women cadets and wish her the best in her
16future endeavors; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly request the Wisconsin
2congressional delegation to seek discontinuation of all federal funding to the Citadel
3until that institution fully accepts women into its cadet corps and discontinues its
4efforts to promote separate South Carolina state military college programs for men
5and women; and, be it further
AR29-ASA2,2,9 6Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
7to Shannon Faulkner, the members of Wisconsin's congressional delegation, the
8Secretary of Defense, the speaker of the South Carolina General Assembly and the
9attorney general of South Carolina.
