ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO 1997 ASSEMBLY BILL 104

AB104-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB104-AA1,1,3 1. Page 2, line 3: delete "Regardless" and substitute "Except as provided in sub. (3), regardless".

AB104-AA1,1,4 2. Page 2, line 4: after that line insert:

AB104-AA1,1,6 "(3) This section does not invalidate an otherwise valid marriage between persons of the same sex if all of the following apply:

AB104-AA1,1,8 (a) The marriage was contracted before the effective date of this paragraph .... [revisor inserts date].

AB104-AA1,1,10 (b) The married persons were of the opposite sex when the marriage was contracted.

AB104-AA1,2,3 (c) On the date of the marriage, the married persons' birth certificates most recently registered, or a similar process if in another state, and as amended, if amended, showed that the persons were of the opposite sex.".
