ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO 1997 SENATE BILL 3

SB3-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the engrossed bill as follows:

SB3-AA1,1,2 1. Page 2, line 8: delete lines 8 and 9 and substitute:

SB3-AA1,1,5 "(a) "Pollution" means degradation that causes groundwater or surface water to be less suitable for human consumption or that causes damage to aquatic or other organisms.".

SB3-AA1,1,6 2. Page 2, line 15: after "information" insert "that is".

SB3-AA1,1,8 3. Page 2, line 16: before the comma insert "and that is verified by the department".

SB3-AA1,1,10 4. Page 2, line 17: delete "which" and substitute "that, together with the host rock in which the ore body is located and in which the refuse is deposited,".

SB3-AA1,1,13 5. Page 2, line 19: delete lines 19 and 20 and substitute "from sedimentation, from acid drainage at the site at which the refuse is deposited or at the mine site or from the release of heavy metals or other contaminants.".

SB3-AA1,2,1 6. Page 3, line 1: after "information" insert "that is".

SB3-AA1,2,3 7. Page 3, line 2: before the comma insert "and that is verified by the department".

SB3-AA1,2,5 8. Page 3, line 3: delete "which" and substitute "that, together with the host rock in which the ore body is located and in which the refuse is deposited,".

SB3-AA1,2,9 9. Page 3, line 5: delete the material beginning with "acid" and ending with "metals" on line 6 and substitute "sedimentation, from acid drainage at the site at which the refuse is deposited or at the mine site or from the release of heavy metals or other contaminants".
