TO 1999 ASSEMBLY BILL 478

AB478-ASA1,1,2 1An Act to renumber and amend 118.25 (3); and to create 118.25 (3) (b) of the
2statutes; relating to: physical health examinations of pupils.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB478-ASA1, s. 1 3Section 1. 118.25 (3) of the statutes is renumbered 118.25 (3) (a) and amended
4to read:
AB478-ASA1,1,105 118.25 (3) (a) In Subject to par. (b), in counties having a population of less than
6500,000, the school board may require periodic health examinations of pupils by
7physicians
a pupil to be periodically examined by a physician, under the supervision
8of a local health departments department and the department of health and family
9services, and. The school board may pay the cost of the examinations out of school
10district funds.
AB478-ASA1, s. 2 11Section 2. 118.25 (3) (b) of the statutes is created to read:

1118.25 (3) (b) Annually by September 1, a school board that wishes to examine
2a pupil under par. (a) shall mail the adult pupil or the parent or guardian of a minor
3pupil a schedule of the number and dates of the examinations that the school board
4plans to conduct during the school year and a detailed description of the nature of
5each examination. The school board may not conduct any examination for which the
6adult pupil or the parent or guardian of a minor pupil has not consented in writing.
7The school board may conduct an examination in addition to those on the schedule
8if the school board mails the adult pupil or the parent or guardian of a minor pupil
9a revised schedule and obtains the written consent of the adult pupil or the parent
10or guardian of a minor pupil to conduct the additional examination.
