Wisconsin state ballad competition. From the appropriation under section
520.215 (1) (a) of the statutes, the arts board shall allocate $2,000 to conduct a
6statewide competition for the purpose of selecting a song to recommend to the
7legislature for designation as the Wisconsin state ballad. The arts board shall
8convene an advisory committee, consisting of not less than 5 members, a majority of
9whom shall be songwriters, musicians or music educators, for the purpose of
10reviewing the songs entered in the competition and recommending the top 5 of those
11songs for consideration and final selection by the arts board. The arts board shall
12organize at least one concert that can be heard or viewed statewide at which those
1top 5 songs shall be performed. After reviewing the recommendations of the advisory
2committee, the arts board shall make the final selection of the song to be
3recommended to the legislature for designation as the Wisconsin state ballad and
4shall report its selection to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature
5in the manner provided in section 13.172 (3) of the statutes.

Wisconsin state ballad competition. In the schedule under section 20.005
8(3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the arts board under section 20.215 (1) (a)
9of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 1999, the dollar amount is increased by
10$1,000 for fiscal year 1999-00 and the dollar amount is increased by $1,000 for fiscal
11year 2000-01 to provide for the administrative and performance costs associated
12with the Wisconsin state ballad competition under
Section 1 (1
) of this act.
