SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 1999 SENATE BILL 215

SB215-SSA1,1,2 An Act to create 196.637 of the statutes; relating to: reports to credit reporting agencies by public utilities.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB215-SSA1, s. 1 Section 1. 196.637 of the statutes is created to read:

SB215-SSA1,1,9 196.637 Reports to credit reporting agencies. (1) If a public utility has reported a customer's delinquent account to a credit reporting agency and the public utility and the customer enter into a deferred payment agreement regarding the delinquent account, the public utility shall report the terms of the agreement and the customer's subsequent payment history with respect to the account to the credit reporting agency.

SB215-SSA1,2,2 (2) A public utility that makes an error in reporting a customer's delinquent account, or in reporting a customer's payment history under sub. (1), to a credit reporting agency shall correct the error and notify the credit reporting agency no later than 30 days after the public utility has notice of the error.

SB215-SSA1, s. 2 Section 2. Initial applicability.

SB215-SSA1,2,5 (1) The treatment of section 196.637 (1) of the statutes first applies to agreements made on the effective date of this subsection.

SB215-SSA1,2,7 (2) The treatment of section 196.637 (2) of the statutes first applies to reports for which public utilities have notice of error on the effective date of this subsection.
