AB1-ASA1-AA1-AA21,2,25 13.08 (2) All members Each member of the legislature shall be entitled to an
6allowance for transportation expenses that the member directly incurred in going to
7and returning from the state capitol once every week during any legislative session,
8at the same rate per mile for each mile traveled in going to and returning from the
9state capitol on the most usual route as is provided for transportation for state
10officers and employees under s. 20.916. A member may not claim an allowance for
11expenses directly incurred by any other person.
Such allowances shall be paid

1monthly upon presentation to the department of administration of a verified written
2statement containing such information as the department requires.
AB1-ASA1-AA1-AA21, s. 6br 3Section 6br. 13.123 (1) (a) 1. of the statutes, as affected by 2001 Wisconsin Act

, is amended to read:
AB1-ASA1-AA1-AA21,3,25 13.123 (1) (a) 1. Any member of the legislature who has signified, by affidavit
6filed with the department of administration, the necessity of establishing a
7temporary residence at the state capital for the period of any regular or special
8legislative session shall be entitled to an allowance for expenses incurred for food and
9lodging for each day that he or she is in Madison on legislative business, but not
10including any Saturday or Sunday unless the legislator is in actual attendance on
11such day at a session of the legislature or a meeting of a standing committee of which
12the legislator is a member. The amount of the allowance for each biennial session
13shall be 90% of the per diem rate for travel for federal government business within
14the city of Madison, as established by the federal general services administration.
15A member who spends less than 4 hours in Madison on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or
16Thursday may not claim an allowance for that day. A member may not use a different
17certification system than is used by employees of the legislature. A member who does
18not use a hotel or apartment in Madison may only claim the allowance rate under
19subd. 2. Members shall submit annual proof to the chief clerk for each day that they
20claim an allowance.
For the purpose of determining the amount of the allowance, the
21secretary of employment relations shall certify to the chief clerk of each house the
22federal per diem rate in effect on December 1, or the first business day thereafter if
23December 1 is not a business day, in each even-numbered year. Each legislator shall
24file an affidavit with the chief clerk of his or her house certifying the specific dollar

1amount within the authorized allowance the member wishes to receive. Such
2affidavit, when filed, shall remain in effect for the biennial session.".".
