29.335 Feeding wild animals for nonhunting purposes. (1) In this
4section, "affected deer management area" means a deer management area in which
5a disease that affects wild animals has been discovered or a deer management area
6that adjoins a deer management area in which such a disease has been discovered.

7(2) The department shall promulgate rules to regulate the recreational and
8supplemental feeding of wild animals in affected deer management areas for
9purposes other than hunting. Any rules promulgated under this subsection do not
10apply after August 31, 2007, unless the standing committee for natural resources
11matters of each house of the legislature, as designated by each presiding officer,
12determines by majority vote, on or before August 31, 2007, that in order to control
1the spread of disease in wild animals this subsection shall continue to apply after
2August 31, 2007. If the standing committees make this determination, the
3chairperson of each of these standing committees shall promptly notify the revisor
4of statutes of the committee's determination. Upon receipt of such notification, the
5revisor shall publish a copy of the notification in the Wisconsin Administrative
6Register.

7(3) In promulgating rules that limit the amount of bait or scented material
8which may be placed for the recreational or supplemental feeding of wild animals for
9purposes other than hunting and that apply to land located outside affected deer
10management areas, the department may not require that the amount of bait
11material or liquid scent that is to be placed be less than 10 gallons in a baited area.".
