TO 2001 ASSEMBLY BILL 358

AB358-ASA1,1,3 1An Act to amend 470.025 (2); and to create 470.025 (12) of the statutes;
2relating to: exceptions from the requirement to obtain a license to practice
3professional geology, professional hydrology, or professional soil science.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB358-ASA1, s. 1 4Section 1. 470.025 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB358-ASA1,1,95 470.025 (2) An officer or employee of the federal government, a state agency,
6as defined in s. 16.61 (2) (d), or a local governmental unit, as defined in s. 16.965 (1)
7(a),
while engaged within this state in the practice of professional geology, hydrology,
8or soil science for the federal government, a state agency, or a local governmental
9unit
.
AB358-ASA1, s. 2 10Section 2. 470.025 (12) of the statutes is created to read:
AB358-ASA1,2,511 470.025 (12) A person engaged within this state in the practice of a profession,
12other than professional geology, hydrology, or soil science, including archaeology,

1aquatic biology, bacteriology, fish management, forestry, horticulture, limnology,
2mycology, plant pathology, stream ecology, wetland science, or wildlife management,
3where the practice of the profession by the person involves knowledge within the
4range of professional geology, hydrology, or soil science, if the person meets all of the
5following conditions:
AB358-ASA1,2,126 (a) The practice of the profession by the person involves only the incidental
7practice of professional geology, hydrology, or soil science. For purposes of this
8paragraph, a practice of professional geology, hydrology, or soil science is incidental
9to the practice of another profession if professional geology, hydrology, or soil science
10is related to, but not the main purpose of, the other profession, or if a person engages
11in a practice of professional geology, hydrology, or soil science while primarily
12engaged in the practice of the other profession.
AB358-ASA1,2,1613 (b) The person does not designate himself or herself as a professional geologist,
14hydrologist, or soil scientist or use any other title, letters, or designation which
15represents or may tend to represent that the person is a professional geologist,
16hydrologist, or soil scientist.
