AB49-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB49-AA1,1,2 1. Page 6, line 25: after that line insert:

AB49-AA1,2,2 "(1m) Motor voter registration. The elections board shall prepare recommendations with regard to permitting electors in this state to register to vote at offices of the department of transportation simultaneously with submitting an application for a license or identification card, or a renewal of a license or identification card, under section 343.14 or 343.50 of the statutes. The recommendations shall address each issue necessary in order to make this registration procedure consistent with the requirements of 42 USC 1973gg-3 that would apply if this state did not qualify for the exemption under 42 USC 1973gg-2 (b) (2). No later than 90 days after the effective date of this subsection, the elections board shall submit the recommendations to the chief clerk of each house of the legislature for distribution to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature in the manner provided under section 13.172 (3) of the statutes.".
