TO 2001 ASSEMBLY BILL 49

AB49-AA3,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB49-AA3,1,3 21. Page 1, line 5: delete "voter identification and registration" and substitute
3"the enforcement of certain election and campaign finance laws".
AB49-AA3,1,4 42. Page 7, line 22: after that line insert:
AB49-AA3,1,12 5"(5d) Voting by felons. The elections board shall prepare recommendations
6with regard to how the department of corrections can better educate each individual
7who is convicted of a felony under the laws of this state as to that individual's rights
8and responsibilities with regard to voting in this state. No later than the first day
9of the 7th month beginning after the effective date of this subsection, the elections
10board shall submit the recommendations to the chief clerk of each house of the
11legislature for distribution to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature
12in the manner provided under section 13.172 (3) of the statutes.

1(5e) Campaign financing. The elections board shall prepare recommendations
2with regard to improving compliance with disclosure requirements under chapter 11
3of the statutes concerning disbursements made by any person who is required to file
4a statement under section 11.06 (7) of the statutes in order to provide voters with
5more complete and timely notice of the disbursements. No later than the first day
6of the 7th month beginning after the effective date of this subsection, the elections
7board shall submit the recommendations to the chief clerk of each house of the
8legislature for distribution to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature
9in the manner provided under section 13.172 (3) of the statutes.".
