AB865-AA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB865-AA1,1,2 21. Page 1, line 2: after "executive" insert "and county administrator".
AB865-AA1,1,3 32. Page 2, line 11: after that line insert:
AB865-AA1,1,4 4" Section 3m. 59.18 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB865-AA1,2,25 59.18 (1) Appointment. Counties having a population of less than 500,000 may
6by resolution of the board or by petition and referendum create the office of county
7administrator. The county administrator shall be appointed by majority vote of the
8board. Such petition and election shall follow the procedure provided in s. 9.20 (1)
9to (6). If any member of the board is appointed as county administrator, his or her
10status as a member of the board is thereby terminated, except that in the case of a
11vacancy in the office of county administrator by reason of removal, resignation, or
12other cause, the board may appoint any member of the board as acting county

1administrator to serve for a period of 15 days while the board is considering the
2selection of a county administrator.".
