AR56-AA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the resolution as follows:
AR56-AA1,1,4 21. Page 1, line 1: on lines 1 and 2, delete "modernization of lock and dam
3infrastructure" and substitute "maintaining and rehabilitating waterways and
4aquatic ecosystems".
AR56-AA1,1,7 52. Page 2, line 17: on lines 17 and 18, delete "is the most environmentally
6friendly form of transporting goods and commodities, creating" and substitute
7"creates".
AR56-AA1,1,8 83. Page 3, line 3: after that line insert:
AR56-AA1,1,10 9"Whereas, our waterway transportation infrastructure shares the public
10waters with the natural environment; and
AR56-AA1,1,1311 Whereas, the natural environment provides public benefits such as recreation,
12tourism, domestic and industrial water supply, and scientific and educational
13opportunities that also are important elements to Wisconsin's economy; and

1Whereas, the upper Mississippi River ecological system is a natural resource
2of statewide, regional, national, and international importance due to its status as one
3of the largest floodplain areas in the world, its importance as a migratory corridor
4for 40% of all North American waterfowl, and the sanctuary it provides to more than
5200 species of plants and animals, including threatened, endangered, or rare species;
6and".
AR56-AA1,2,7 74. Page 4, line 3: after that line insert:
AR56-AA1,2,10 8"Resolved, That the legislature recognizes the critical habitat restoration and
9rehabilitation needs of the upper Mississippi River's ecological resources; and, be it
10further".
AR56-AA1,2,13 115. Page 4, line 7: on lines 7 and 8, delete "to construct 1,200-foot locks on the
12upper Mississippi and Illinois river system" and substitute "to support sustainable
13environmental programs on the upper Mississippi River system".
