SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2001 SENATE BILL 30

SB30-SSA1,1,2 An Act relating to: renaming the women's minimum security correctional facility at Union Grove in Racine County.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB30-SSA1, s. 1 Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.

SB30-SSA1,2,2 (1) Within one year after the effective date of this subsection, the governor shall rename the women's minimum security correctional facility at Union Grove in Racine County to honor a prominent woman in Wisconsin history. To determine the new name of the facility, the department of corrections shall solicit suggestions from the general public, including Wisconsin historians, school children, and staff and inmates of the women's correctional facilities. The department of corrections shall submit not less than 5 of the suggested names to the governor and shall make the list of the 5 selected names available for public inspection. The governor shall choose the new name of the women's minimum security correctional facility at Union Grove in Racine County from the 5 names submitted to him or her by the department of corrections.
