SB344-SSA1,1,2 1An Act to create 16.004 (15) of the statutes; relating to: development of a tribal
2logo for notification of state grants funded by Indian gaming receipts.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB344-SSA1, s. 1 3Section 1. 16.004 (15) of the statutes is created to read:
SB344-SSA1,1,64 16.004 (15) Development of tribal logo. (a) The secretary shall, in
5consultation with the Great Lakes Inner-Tribal Council, Inc., develop all of the
6following:
SB344-SSA1,1,107 1. A tribal logo that is representative of federally recognized American Indian
8tribes and bands in this state and that would be appropriate for display on official
9state notifications of grants funded in whole or in part by Indian gaming receipts, as
10defined in s. 569.01 (1m).

12. A plan to implement the use of the logo, including ways to determine when
2the logo should be used, the cost of developing and using the logo, and how this cost
3would be funded.
SB344-SSA1,2,144 (b) The secretary shall submit the logo and the plan under par. (a) to the joint
5committee on finance and to the governing body of each federally recognized
6American Indian tribe and band in this state. If the cochairpersons of the committee
7do not notify the secretary that the committee has scheduled a meeting to review the
8logo and the plan within 14 working days after the date of submission, use of the logo
9may, upon approval of the governing body of each tribe and band, be implemented
10as proposed in the plan. If, within 14 working days after the date of the submission,
11the cochairpersons of the committee notify the secretary that the committee has
12scheduled a meeting for the purpose of reviewing the logo and plan, use of the logo
13may be implemented only upon approval of the committee and the governing body
14of each tribe and band.
