SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2003 ASSEMBLY BILL 114

AB114-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB114-SA1,1,2 1. Page 1, line 4: delete lines 4 and 5.

AB114-SA1,1,3 2. Page 2, line 1: delete lines 1 to 4 and substitute:

AB114-SA1,1,4 " Section 1g. 6.78 of the statutes is amended to read:

AB114-SA1,1,6 6.78 (1) In all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class cities, and in 4th class cities, villages, and towns having a population of more than 8,000, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

AB114-SA1, s. 1r Section 1r. 6.78 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB114-SA1,2,2 6.78 (2) In 4th class cities, villages and towns having a population of 8,000 or less, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.; extendable by the governing body to not earlier than 7 a.m. Notice of the change of hours shall be given by publication in a newspaper, under ch. 985, once each week for 2 successive weeks, with the first insertion not less than 8 days before the election. The new hours shall take effect only after the notice provisions have been complied with. When the ordinance applies to all future elections, notice need be given only for the first election affected by the change.".

AB114-SA1,2,4 3. Page 2, line 12: delete " set the election hours and" and substitute "set the election hours and".

AB114-SA1,2,5 4. Page 2, line 13: after "provided in" insert "this paragraph and".

AB114-SA1,2,11 5. Page 2, line 17: delete the material beginning with "Election" and ending with "7 a.m." on line 21, and substitute "Election hours set by the governing body of the special purpose district for each polling place shall be the same as those provided by law or by the governing body of the municipality in which the polling place is located, except that if the opening hour is later than 7 a.m., the governing body of the special purpose district may extend the opening hour to not earlier than 7 a.m.".

AB114-SA1,2,13 6. Page 3, line 7: delete " set the election hours and" and substitute "set the election hours and".

AB114-SA1,2,18 7. Page 3, line 9: delete the material beginning with "Election" and ending with "7 a.m." on line 12, and substitute "Election hours set by the school board shall be the same as those provided by law or by the municipal governing body in which the polling place is located, except that if the opening hour is later than 7 a.m., the school board may extend the opening hour to not earlier than 7 a.m.".
