TO 2003 ASSEMBLY BILL 409

AB409-ASA1,1,3 1An Act to create 21.19 (14), 45.35 (14) (i) and 45.43 (5m) of the statutes; relating
2to:
duties of the adjutant general, the department of veterans affairs, and
3county veterans' service officers.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB409-ASA1, s. 1 4Section 1. 21.19 (14) of the statutes is created to read:
AB409-ASA1,1,75 21.19 (14) The adjutant general shall provide the department of veterans
6affairs information on all necessary military points of contact and general
7deployment information for activated and deployed members of the national guard.
AB409-ASA1, s. 2 8Section 2. 45.35 (14) (i) of the statutes is created to read:
AB409-ASA1,1,129 45.35 (14) (i) To provide county veterans' service officers with information on
10all necessary military points of contact and general deployment information for
11reserve units of the U.S. armed forces and with the information provided to the
12department by the adjutant general under s. 21.19 (14).

1Section 3. 45.43 (5m) of the statutes is created to read:
AB409-ASA1,2,22 45.43 (5m) Permitted activities. The county veterans' service officer may:
AB409-ASA1,2,93 (a) Inform persons living in the service officer's county who are members of the
4national guard or of a reserve unit of the U.S. armed forces or dependents of those
5persons regarding potential benefits to which they may be or may become entitled
6and regarding all necessary military points of contact and general deployment
7information for activated and deployed members of the national guard or reserve
8units of the U.S. armed forces and render to them and their dependents all possible
9assistance.
AB409-ASA1,2,1210 (b) Cooperate with federal and state agencies that serve or grant aids or
11benefits to members of the national guard or reserve units of the U.S. armed forces
12and their dependents.
