ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 2, TO 2003 ASSEMBLY BILL 998

AB998-AA2,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB998-AA2,1,2 1. Page 2, line 4: after that line insert:

AB998-AA2,1,3 " Section 1m. 14.035 (1m) of the statutes is created to read:

AB998-AA2,1,7 14.035 (1m) There is created the joint committee on tribal gaming compacts consisting of the majority leader and assistant majority leader of each house of the legislature and the minority leader and assistant minority leader of each house of the legislature, or any of their designees.".

AB998-AA2,1,8 2. Page 2, line 6: delete lines 6 to 21 and substitute:

AB998-AA2,2,2 "14.035 (2) Before entering into, amending, extending, or renewing a compact, the governor shall submit the proposed compact to the joint committee on tribal gaming compacts. The governor may not enter into, amend, extend, or renew a compact unless the joint committee on tribal gaming compacts approves the proposed compact without change. If the committee does not reject the proposed compact within 30 days after the governor's submittal of the proposed compact to the committee, the proposed compact is considered approved.".
