ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 44, TO 2003 SENATE BILL 214

SB214-AA44,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the engrossed bill as follows:

SB214-AA44,1,3 1. Page 31, line 14: delete "Subject to pars. (c) and (d)" and substitute "Except as provided in par. (bm) and subject to par. (c)".

SB214-AA44,1,4 2. Page 31, line 21: after that line insert:

SB214-AA44,1,8 "(bm) Subject to par. (c), if an applicant has committed a misdemeanor crime of violence and the person is eligible for a license under sub. (3) (m), the sheriff shall do one of the following within 60 days after receiving the applicant's application under sub. (7):

SB214-AA44,1,10 1. Issue the license and promptly send the licensee his or her license document by 1st class mail.

SB214-AA44,2,2 2. Deny the application, but only if the applicant fails to qualify under other criteria specified in sub. (3). If the sheriff denies the application, he or she shall inform the applicant in writing, stating the reason and factual basis for the denial to the extent permitted under federal law.

SB214-AA44,2,3 3. File a petition under sub. (10m).".

SB214-AA44,2,4 3. Page 32, line 3: delete lines 3 and 4.

SB214-AA44,2,5 4. Page 36, line 18: delete "30" and substitute "60".

SB214-AA44,2,7 5. Page 37, line 2: after "fees" insert "and the sheriff shall promptly issue the person a license".

SB214-AA44,2,8 6. Page 41, line 16: after "2." insert "or (bm) 2.".
