SENATE AMENDMENT 23, TO 2003 SENATE BILL 41

SB41-SA23,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB41-SA23,1,2 1. Page 2, line 3: after that line insert:

SB41-SA23,1,3 " Section 1m. 14.035 (1m) of the statutes is created to read:

SB41-SA23,1,10 14.035 (1m) There is created the joint committee on tribal gaming compacts consisting of an equal number of members of the senate and assembly and an equal number of members of the majority party and the minority party in the senate and in the assembly, appointed as are the members of standing committees in the respective houses. Only members who represent a district in which is located a casino operated under a compact entered into under this section may serve as a member of the committee.".

SB41-SA23,2,5 2. Page 2, line 7: delete "legislature for approval." and substitute "joint committee on tribal gaming compacts. If the committee approves the compact, it shall submit the proposed compact to the legislature for approval. If the committee does not approve without change the proposed compact, the committee shall return the compact to the governor for renegotiation. Neither the senate nor the assembly may consider a proposed compact until a committee of that house has held a public hearing regarding the compact in all counties in which a casino affected by the compact is located.".
