TO 2003 SENATE BILL 44

SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:
SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,4 21. Page 125, line 14: increase the dollar amount for fiscal year 2003-04 by
3$61,000 and increase the dollar amount for fiscal year 2004-05 by $61,000 to
4increase funding for the purposes for which the appropriation is made.
SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,5 52. Page 783, line 21: after that line insert:
SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,6 6" Section 1998d. 115.435 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,127 115.435 (2) No later than June 30 of the current school year, the department
8shall, from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad), pay each school district that
9satisfies the criteria under sub. (1) $350 for each pupil enrolled in the school district
10in the previous school year. If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad) is insufficient
11to pay the full amount under this subsection, the funds shall be prorated among the
12entitled school districts.
".

1Section 1998e. 115.435 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:
SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,42 115.435 (2m) (a) A school district that satisfies all of the following criteria may
3apply to the department by October 15 of each school year for a grant to supplement
4aid under s. 121.08:
SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,65 1. The school district had an enrollment in the previous school year of fewer
6than 300 pupils.
SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,77 2. The school district is less than 325 square miles in area.
SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,98 3. The school district is in cooperative educational service agency no. 8 or no.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,1010 4. The school district operates grades kindergarten to 12.
SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,1311 (b) Annually the department shall, from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2)
12(ad), pay each school district that satisfies the criteria under par. (a) $50 for each
13pupil enrolled in the school district in the previous school year.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,1715 115.435 (4) If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad) is insufficient to pay

17school districts.".
