SENATE AMENDMENT 34, TO SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2003 SENATE BILL 44

SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:

SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,4 1. Page 125, line 14: increase the dollar amount for fiscal year 2003-04 by $61,000 and increase the dollar amount for fiscal year 2004-05 by $61,000 to increase funding for the purposes for which the appropriation is made.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,5 2. Page 783, line 21: after that line insert:

SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,6 " Section 1998d. 115.435 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB44-SSA1-SA34,1,12 115.435 (2) No later than June 30 of the current school year, the department shall, from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad), pay each school district that satisfies the criteria under sub. (1) $350 for each pupil enrolled in the school district in the previous school year. If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad) is insufficient to pay the full amount under this subsection, the funds shall be prorated among the entitled school districts.".

SB44-SSA1-SA34, s. 1998e Section 1998e. 115.435 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,4 115.435 (2m) (a) A school district that satisfies all of the following criteria may apply to the department by October 15 of each school year for a grant to supplement aid under s. 121.08:

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,6 1. The school district had an enrollment in the previous school year of fewer than 300 pupils.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,7 2. The school district is less than 325 square miles in area.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,9 3. The school district is in cooperative educational service agency no. 8 or no. 9.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,10 4. The school district operates grades kindergarten to 12.

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,13 (b) Annually the department shall, from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad), pay each school district that satisfies the criteria under par. (a) $50 for each pupil enrolled in the school district in the previous school year.

SB44-SSA1-SA34, s. 1998f Section 1998f. 115.435 (4) of the statutes is created to read:

SB44-SSA1-SA34,2,17 115.435 (4) If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad) is insufficient to pay the full amounts under this section, the funds shall be prorated among the entitled school districts.".
