SENATE AMENDMENT 13, TO 2005 ASSEMBLY BILL 100

AB100-SA13,1,6 20.255 (2) (ae) Sparsity aid. As a continuing appropriation, the amounts in the schedule for sparsity aid to school districts under s. 115.436.".

AB100-SA13,1,10 115.436 Sparsity aid. (1) In this section, "membership" has the meaning given in s. 121.004 (5).

AB100-SA13,1,12 (2) A school district is eligible for sparsity aid under this section if it satisfies all of the following criteria:

AB100-SA13,2,2 (a) The school district's membership in the previous school year was no more than 2,000.

AB100-SA13,2,4 (b) At least 20 percent of the school district's membership in the previous school year was eligible for a free or reduced-price lunch under 42 USC 1758 (b).

AB100-SA13,2,6 (c) The school district's membership in the previous school year divided by the school district's area in square miles is less than 15.

AB100-SA13,2,9 (3) (a) Beginning in the 2006-07 school year, the department shall pay to each school district eligible for sparsity aid the following amount from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ae):

AB100-SA13,2,12 1. If no more than 40 percent of the school district's membership in the previous school year was eligible for a free or reduced-price lunch under 42 USC 1758 (b), $150 multiplied by the membership in the previous school year.

AB100-SA13,2,15 2. If more than 40 percent of the school district's membership in the previous school year was eligible for a free or reduced-price lunch under 42 USC 1758 (b), $300 multiplied by the membership in the previous school year.

AB100-SA13,2,18 (b) If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ae) in any fiscal year is insufficient to pay the full amount under par. (a), the department shall prorate the payments among the eligible school districts.

AB100-SA13,2,21 (4) The school board of each school district receiving aid under this section annually shall submit to the department and publish in the school district a report describing how the school board used the aid.".
