9U.S. government for a waiver of, or for participation in a federal pilot program, if any
10exists, providing an exception to, the provisions of
23 USC 158 under which this state
11is authorized to lower the legal drinking age for members of the U.S. armed forces
12residing in this state to 19 years of age without subjecting this state to withholding
13of federal highway aid as specified in
23 USC 158. If, within 60 days after the date
1that the petition is made, the applicable federal agency has not notified the
2department of its decision on the petition, the department shall consider the petition
3to be approved and, for purposes of sub. (2) and s. 125.02 (8m) (b), a federal waiver
4or pilot program participation is considered to be obtained in accordance with the
5terms of the petition.

10(1) The petition under section 125.032 (1) of the statutes, as created by this act,
11shall be in writing and made in accordance with any procedures required by the
12applicable federal agency. The petition shall be made within 30 days of the effective
