SB372-SSA1,1,2 1An Act relating to: a grant for a biomedical technology alliance in southeastern
2Wisconsin.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB372-SSA1, s. 1 3Section 1 . Nonstatutory provisions.
SB372-SSA1,2,34 (1) Biomedical technology alliance; grant. Notwithstanding section 560.61
5of the statutes, the department of commerce shall, from the appropriation under
6section 20.143 (1) (c) of the statutes, as affected by 2005 Wisconsin Act 25, make a
7grant of $2,000,000 in the 2006-07 fiscal year to the Board of Regents of the
8University of Wisconsin System to supplement moneys granted under 2005
9Wisconsin Act 25
, section 9108 (3k). No moneys may be expended under this
10subsection unless the Board of Regents secures private, local, or federal matching
11funds that are equal to 100 percent of the moneys to be expended. The department

1shall ensure that moneys expended under this subsection cover only research and
2not administrative costs and that no moneys are expended on investors, consultants,
3or on nonprofit or economic development organizations.
SB372-SSA1,2,54 (2) Grant limitations. The proceeds of the grant under subsection (1 ) may not
5be used to do any of the following:
SB372-SSA1,2,86 (a) Conduct research that involves the destruction of a human embryo or uses
7cells or tissues derived from the destruction of a human embryo that was destroyed
8after August 9, 2001.
SB372-SSA1,2,99 (b) Create a human embryo for research purposes.
SB372-SSA1,2,1010 (c) Clone a human embryo for any purpose.
SB372-SSA1,2,1311 (3) Reconciliation provision. This act is void unless 2005 Wisconsin Act ....
