SB394-ASA1,1,2 An Act to amend 448.03 (1) (a); and to create 448.015 (1g) of the statutes; relating to: electromyography.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

This bill provides that only a physician licensed in this state may perform a needle electromyography. A "needle electromyography" is the recording for diagnostic purposes of electrical activity generated by a muscle using a needle electrode.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB394-ASA1, s. 1 Section 1. 448.015 (1g) of the statutes is created to read:

SB394-ASA1,1,5 448.015 (1g) "Needle electromyography" means the recording for diagnostic purposes of electrical activity generated by a muscle using a needle electrode.

SB394-ASA1, s. 2 Section 2. 448.03 (1) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB394-ASA1,2,2 448.03 (1) License required to practice. (a) No person may practice medicine and surgery, or perform a needle electromyography, or attempt to do so or make a representation as authorized to do so, without a license to practice medicine and surgery granted by the board.
