SB618-SA5,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB618-SA5,1,2 21. Page 1, line 5: after "Program" insert "and making an appropriation".
SB618-SA5,1,3 32. Page 3, line 1: before that line insert:
SB618-SA5,1,4 4" Section 1g. 20.255 (2) (fx) of the statutes is created to read:
SB618-SA5,1,115 20.255 (2) (fx) Milwaukee Parental Choice Program; property tax
6reimbursement.
A sum sufficient to reimburse the city of Milwaukee for the property
7tax costs attributable to the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program under s. 119.23,
8as determined by the department of public instruction. This paragraph applies only
9if the number of pupils attending private schools under that program is greater than
10the number doing so in the 2006-07 school year, as determined by the department
11of public instruction.".

1"(2m) There shall be submitted to the vote of the electors of the city of
2Milwaukee at the general election to be held in November 2006 the following
3question: "Currently, property taxpayers in the city of Milwaukee pay approximately
4$1,000 annually for each pupil attending a private school under the Milwaukee
5Parental Choice Program. Shall section 1g of 2005 Wisconsin Act .... (this act), which
6requires the State of Wisconsin to reimburse the city of Milwaukee for the property
7tax costs attributable to the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program if the number of
8pupils enrolled in the program exceeds the number enrolled in the 2006-07 school
9year, become effective?" If the question is approved by a majority of all votes cast on
10the question at the election, Section 1g of this act shall become law; otherwise that
11section shall not take effect.".
