SENATE AMENDMENT 9, TO 2005 SENATE BILL 618

SB618-SA9,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB618-SA9,1,2 1. Page 5, line 4: after that line insert:

SB618-SA9,1,3 " Section 7m. 119.23 (2) (c) of the statutes is created to read:

SB618-SA9,1,8 119.23 (2) (c) If the department determines that an accrediting agency specified in par. (a) 7. is not competent or is otherwise unfit to accredit private schools participating in the program under this section, it shall issue an order to that effect and require any private school accredited by such an agency to achieve accreditation by another accrediting agency within 2 years.".

SB618-SA9,1,9 2. Page 4, line 11: delete lines 11 to 19 and substitute:

SB618-SA9,2,2 "119.23 (2) (a) 7. The private school was approved for scholarship funding for the 2005-06 school year by Partners Advancing Values in Education or, subject to par. (c), by December 31 of the 2nd school year following the first school year that begins after June 30, 2006, in which it participates in the program under this section, the private school is accredited by at least 2 of the following:

SB618-SA9,2,4 b. The Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation.

SB618-SA9,2,5 c. The Independent Schools Association of the Central States.

SB618-SA9,2,6 d. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

SB618-SA9,2,7 e. The Institute for the Transformation of Learning at Marquette University.

SB618-SA9,2,9 f. Any other organization recognized by the National Council for Private School Accreditation.".
