2007 - 2008 LEGISLATURE
ASSEMBLY SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1,
TO 2007 ASSEMBLY BILL 123
April 3, 2007 - Offered by Committee on Homeland Security and State
Preparedness
.
AB123-ASA1,1,2 1An Act to create 109.03 (1) (e) of the statutes; relating to: the frequency of wage
2payments to volunteer fire fighters and emergency medical technicians.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law generally requires an employer to pay an employee his or her
wages by no later than 31 days after the date on which the wages are earned. Current
law, however, provides exceptions for employees engaged in logging or farm labor,
employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement establishing a different
payment frequency, school district and private school employees who request
payment over a 12-month period for services performed during the school year, and
employees who receive compensatory time off in lieu of overtime compensation. This
bill creates another exception for volunteer fire fighters or volunteer emergency
medical technicians who by agreement with their employers are paid semiannually
or annually.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB123-ASA1, s. 1 3Section 1. 109.03 (1) (e) of the statutes is created to read:
AB123-ASA1,2,3
1109.03 (1) (e) A volunteer fire fighter or a voluntary emergency medical
2technician who, by agreement between the volunteer and the entity employing the
3volunteer, is paid semiannually or annually.
