AB170-ASA1,1,2 1An Act to amend 985.02 (2) (a) of the statutes; relating to: publication of
2municipal legal notices.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a municipality may publish a legal notice in a newspaper
likely to give notice in the area or to the persons affected or the municipality may post
the legal notice in at least three public places likely to give notice to the persons
affected by the content of the legal notice.
This bill provides that the Internet may be one of the three public places that
a municipality may post a legal notice if the municipality elects to use that method
of posting a legal notice.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1985.02 (2) (a) The notice must be posted in at least 3 public places likely to give
2notice to persons affected. In this paragraph, the Internet is considered a public
