AB370-ASA1,1,2 1An Act to create 21.015 (3) and 343.16 (2) (f) of the statutes; relating to:
2commercial driver licenses for military license holders.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB370-ASA1, s. 1 3Section 1. 21.015 (3) of the statutes is created to read:
AB370-ASA1,1,54 21.015 (3) Assist the department of transportation in making the
5determinations under s. 343.16 (2) (f).
AB370-ASA1, s. 2 6Section 2. 343.16 (2) (f) of the statutes is created to read:
AB370-ASA1,1,127 343.16 (2) (f) Application by military license holder. 1. In this paragraph,
8"military commercial driver license" means, notwithstanding s. 340.01 (7m) and
9(41m), an authorization from the national guard of any state, from a branch of the
10U.S. armed forces, or from forces incorporated as part of the U.S. armed forces,
11authorizing a person to operate vehicles that the department determines are
12equivalent to those described in s. 340.01 (8) (a) or (b).

12. An applicant for a commercial driver license who holds a military commercial
2driver license shall submit to the department, in addition to the application, the
3applicant's military commercial driver license and other documentation that the
4department considers necessary to determine the equivalent classes of vehicles
5under s. 343.04 (1) that the applicant's military commercial driver license authorizes
6the applicant to operate.
AB370-ASA1,2,117 3. Notwithstanding pars. (a) to (c) and sub. (1) (a), the department shall treat
8an application for a commercial driver license submitted with a military commercial
9driver license and other related documentation the same as an application for that
10license submitted by a person holding a commercial driver license from another
11jurisdiction, with respect to equivalent classes of vehicles under s. 343.04 (1).

AB370-ASA1,2,1513 (1) This act first applies to applications for commercial driver licenses
14submitted to the department of transportation on the effective date of this
15subsection.
AB370-ASA1, s. 4 16Section 4. Effective date.
AB370-ASA1,2,1817 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 2nd month beginning after
18publication.
