SB15-SA2,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB15-SA2,1,2 21. Page 1, line 1: after "appointment" insert "and term of service".
SB15-SA2,1,4 32. Page 1, line 4: delete "The secretary" and substitute "The Before January
43, 2011, the
secretary".
SB15-SA2,1,8 53. Page 1, line 6: delete that line and substitute "pleasure of the governor.
6After January 2, 2011, the secretary of natural resources shall be nominated by the
7natural resources board, and with the advice and consent of the senate appointed,
8for a 4-year term ending on July 1.
".
SB15-SA2,1,9 94. Page 1, line 6: after that line insert:
SB15-SA2,1,10 10" Section 1s. 17.20 (2) (c) of the statutes is created to read:
SB15-SA2,2,911 17.20 (2) (c) A vacancy occurring in the office of secretary of natural resources
12after January 2, 2011, may be filled by a provisional appointment by the natural
13resources board for the residue of the unexpired term, if any, subject to confirmation

1by the senate. Any provisional appointment shall be in full force until acted upon
2by the senate, and when confirmed by the senate shall continue for the residue of the
3unexpired term, if any, or until a successor is chosen and qualifies. A provisional
4appointee may exercise all of the powers and duties of the office during the time in
5which the appointee qualifies. Any appointment made under this paragraph that is
6withdrawn or rejected by the senate shall lapse. When a provisional appointment
7lapses, a vacancy occurs. Whenever a new legislature is organized, any appointment
8then pending before the senate shall be referred by the president to the appropriate
9standing committee of the newly organized senate.".
