(6r) (g) 2. If an individual in possession of special plates under par. (f)
1233., 34., or 48. or of personalized plates under s. 341.145 (1) (c) of the same color and
13design as special plates under par. (f) 33., 34., or 48. suffers an injury in the course
1of his or her job duties as a fire fighter, rescue squad member, or emergency medical
2technician and the injury prevents the individual from subsequently performing
3such job duties, the individual may retain these special plates.".

6(1) Any individual who was in possession, on September 1, 2007, of special
7plates described in section 341.14 (6r) (g) 2. of the statutes, as created by this act, who
8suffered an injury in the course of his or her job duties as a fire fighter, rescue squad
9member, or emergency medical technician that prevents the individual from
10subsequently performing such job duties, and who was required to surrender these
11special plates between September 1, 2007, and the effective date of this subsection
12or whose special plates expired during this time period may apply to the department
13of transportation for reissuance of these special plates. Upon application, the
14department of transportation shall reissue these special plates at no additional fee.".
