ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 4, TO ASSEMBLY SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2011 ASSEMBLY BILL 96

AB96-ASA1-AA4,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:

AB96-ASA1-AA4,1,2 1. Page 1, line 3: after "composition" insert "and election".

AB96-ASA1-AA4,1,3 2. Page 1, line 4: delete that line and substitute "Affairs and direction and".

AB96-ASA1-AA4,1,4 3. Page 1, line 6: delete lines 6 to 11.

AB96-ASA1-AA4,1,10 " Section 5g. 45.03 (2g) of the statutes is created to read:

AB96-ASA1-AA4,2,14 45.03 (2g) Election of board members. The department shall supervise the election of the members of the board. Elections shall be held no later than April 1 in the year that a current member's term of office expires. Elections shall be held on the same date each year throughout the state, as determined by the department. The department shall review the qualifications of potential candidates for an election and certify those who are qualified to be on the ballot in a congressional district. Only residents of this state who are veterans or who are serving or have served in the national guard, as defined in s. 321.01 (9), may vote in the election. Elections shall be held in the each county seat in the congressional district in which a member is to be selected. Voters may only vote for the candidates in their congressional district. The election shall be administered by the county veterans service officers, who shall ensure that only eligible persons vote in the election. The county veterans service officers shall certify the election results, publish those results, and transmit those results to the department.".
