AB257-ASA1,1,3 1An Act to renumber 254.18; to amend 254.18 (title); and to create 254.18 (2)
2of the statutes; relating to: exemption from lead inspection requirements for
3partial lead inspection during certain lead-safe renovations.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB257-ASA1,1 4Section 1. 254.18 (title) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB257-ASA1,1,6 5254.18 (title) Lead hazard reduction in dwellings and premises;

AB257-ASA1,2 7Section 2. 254.18 of the statutes is renumbered 254.18 (1).
AB257-ASA1,3 8Section 3. 254.18 (2) of the statutes is created to read:
AB257-ASA1,1,129 254.18 (2) (a) In this subsection, "partial lead inspection" means an on-site
10investigation of one or more painted, varnished, or otherwise coated building
11components to determine the presence of lead, but not a surface-by-surface
12investigation.

1(b) If the presence of lead-bearing paint or a lead hazard is assumed and a
2renovation of a dwelling, unit of a dwelling, or premises is performed in a lead-safe
3manner, any person who performs a partial lead inspection relating to that
4renovation is not required to comply with any requirements established by the
5department for a lead inspection.
AB257-ASA1,2,86 (c) The person who performs a partial lead inspection under this subsection
7shall disclose, in writing, to the owner or lessor of the dwelling or premises that the
8person performed a partial lead inspection.
