SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO ASSEMBLY BILL 40

AB40-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB40-SA1,1,3 1. Page 3, line 9: delete the material beginning with that line and ending with page 4, line 4, and substitute:

AB40-SA1,1,4 " Section 2m. 48.84 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB40-SA1,1,11 48.84 (2) The department shall promulgate rules establishing the number of hours of topics covered under the preadoption preparation that is required under sub. (1) and the topics covered under that preparation. The preparation shall include training on issues that may confront adoptive parents, in general, and that may confront adoptive parents of special needs children or foreign children. In all cases, the training shall cover the topics of attachment, trauma, neglect, and abuse, including sexual abuse.".

AB40-SA1,1,12 2. Page 4, line 11: delete lines 11 to 13 and substitute "child to be adopted.".

AB40-SA1,1,13 3. Page 5, line 13: delete that line and substitute:

AB40-SA1,2,3 "48.93 (1w) At the time a court grants an adoption of a child who was placed for adoption under s. 48.833, 48.834, 48.837, or 48.839, the court shall advise the adoptive parent that the agency that".

AB40-SA1,2,4 4. Page 5, line 16: delete "shall" and substitute "will".

AB40-SA1,2,10 5. Page 5, line 19: delete that line and substitute "parent resides within 90 days after the court grants the adoption unless the adoptive parent elects not to have that information so provided. If the adoptive parent makes that election, the agency may not provide that information. If the adoptive parent does not make that election, the agency shall provide that information within 90 days after the court grants the adoption.".
