TO SENATE BILL 108

SB108-SA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB108-SA1,1,4 21. Page 1, line 3: delete “requirements" and substitute “requirements,
3regulatory and practice updates for cosmetologists and related professionals,
4cosmetology licensure exams,".
SB108-SA1,1,5 52. Page 2, line 1: delete that line and substitute:
SB108-SA1,1,6 6 Section 1c. 454.07 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:
SB108-SA1,1,107 454.07 (2m) The written examination for a license issued under s. 454.06 (2)
8shall include questions that require applicants to demonstrate knowledge of the
9treatment of all hair types, and of hair straightening processes and the health risks
10associated with hair straightening processes.
SB108-SA1,1g 11Section 1g. 454.12 of the statutes is renumbered 454.12 (1m).
SB108-SA1,1n 12Section 1n. 454.12 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:

1454.12 (2m) The continuing education required by rule under sub. (1m) (b)
2shall include training on preventing the spread of methicillin-resistant
3Staphylococcus aureus and infectious diseases that have a reasonable risk of being
4spread through the practice of cosmetology, aesthetics, manicuring, or electrology.
SB108-SA1,1r 5Section 1r. 454.12 (3) of the statutes is created to read:
SB108-SA1,2,126 454.12 (3) Up to one-half of the amount of continuing education credits
7required by rule under sub. (1m) (b) may be completed by informal, self-directed
8learning activities, including reading, teaching, researching, serving on a board or
9committee, viewing a video, listening to an audio recording, or participating in other
10experiential learning activities that are determined by the examining board to be
11relevant to competency to practice cosmetology, aesthetics, manicuring, or
12electrology.
SB108-SA1,1w 13Section 1w. 454.125 of the statutes is created to read:
SB108-SA1,2,17 14454.125 Regulatory and practice updates. During each period between
15license renewal dates under s. 440.08 (2) (a), the department shall send, by electronic
16mail, to each person granted a license under s. 454.06 (2) to (6), a digest that describes
17all of the following:
SB108-SA1,2,1918 (1) Changes to statutes and rules that affect the practice of cosmetology,
19aesthetics, manicuring, or electrology.
SB108-SA1,2,2120 (2) Changes and developments in the methods used in the practice of
21cosmetology, aesthetics, manicuring, or electrology.”.
